Can anyone tell me where I can buy a small foxy lady or gear me in the right deduction thank you Myolensis triple and the (now infamous) foxy lady… Last year I added three Beccariophoenix alfredii, which I’m really liking so far due to their hardiness, and some Areca palms. I caught the “Palm tree bug” a few years ago when my wife and I wanted to add some planters to our yard, and I’ve been turned into a palm-tree nerd, as i call myself, ever since. So today is my 24 hour soak, I added some super thrive to the water at 1 tsp per gallon and am hoping that my plant drinks it up!

Lol but really I’ve only heard amazing things from this palm and I absolutely love the looks from it. The hybrid Wodyetia bifurcata x Veitchia arecina. I came across the legendary Foxy lady palm.
If so did they sprout around the same time frame? If there are variegated foxladies, they are obvious. What I have noticed is that the width of the foxylady leaves tend to be a little wider and a little more dark hairs on the leaf bases. @here does anyone have Foxy Lady seed they would like to sell?

Bigger ” seeder ” at Kopsick sits close to where the collection’s Veitchia grove is located. I have little doubt that had it been spring, or this time of year, germination likely would have succeeded. If you’re up to a good challenge, Kopsick Palm – Arboretum in St. Pete has a few specimens, at least one that can / has produced seed. Or is there anyone on this forum growing the legendary tree?
I was advised by the seller to apply a kelp extract/ water mix, then heavy water every other day, with superthrive/ water every five days. I marked the spear the day it was delivered, and there has been zero growth (I wouldn’t be concerned with that at this point, except that the leaf has now snapped) Yes the Veitchia can and has been the host, I had one growing at my former residence , it looks like a Veitchia, with yellowish petioles. Foxyladies hold the variegation when mature. Here are a few slightly variegated ones.
- Yeah I had one sprout a while back but had some irrigation issues to my potted plants in my absence and it ended up drying out and dying.
- They s/b just a hard and firm as a foxtail or vetchia to be viable.
- I am good with the outcome either way, but if you really want to rid yourself of that ‘ugly’ plant,I am ready to adopt.
- Look how elongated this viable F2 seed is, that I picked up yesterday.
- Now correct me if I am wrong is it true that even the green ones will spit out some variation in its life span ?
Lots of people have been sold green ‘foxy lady’ palms in the past, that eventually turn out growing up into standard foxtails. When you germinated the seeds of the foxy lady and the foxtail did you plant them at the same time? My big green one enjoys full sun however and is the fastest growing palm in my landscape and I have hundreds of palms in the ground.

He is the only one to have a problem with their foxy lady order, and started to complain even before it was delivered. 1 of each 3 and 7 is slightly variegated with 2 of each being greens. Good quality plant and amazing growth. I bought a 7 gallon from Premier Growers about 8 months ago and it’s already outgrowing the 25 gallon pot I moved it into. Here is the palm, looks very healthy aside from the obvious cold spots on the old fronds.
They s/b just a hard and firm as a foxtail or vetchia to be viable. The fastest way I check for viable seed is to roll the seed on concrete with my foot, giving it some moderate pressure. It took about years of seeding until some viable seed dropped. I have been growing F2 Foxy Ladies for the last 3 years. I planted a 1 gallon Cyphophoenix elgans to the east of it about 3-4 years ago, so its just starting to gain some momentum. Sorry to hear this…..time to edit and replace.
A potted palm, drought tolerant or not, needs watering much more often than one in the ground that’s established. It’s a bad combination for the palm to deal with root trauma and to fight full scorching sun at the same time. I have 2 smaller foxys, and they were sensitive to repotting; it stunted their growth for several months. Also the variegation seems to be a morphological example of hybrid decline as the greens show hybrid vigor.

By the looks of it, drying and wilting, what’re the odds of a rebound if I get it in the ground with profuse water? I highly recommend that you just plant this. That thing is so root bound that you need to do slow drip like they do or just plant it.

- Hello, I’m a novice collector and bought a 15 gallon foxy lady from a seller in Temecula, CA about 2 and a half weeks ago.
- FULL DISCLOSURE…these are not photos of my palms, nor did I take these photos.
- I do not grow foxtails, so there could not be a mix up there.
- Secondly, drought tolerance is typically referring to in ground established plants.
- I would LOVE to own that ‘ugly’ palm.
- The real bummer is that I will also eventually have to remove the other big palm in that corner of the garden because it is a Caryota that will eventually flower.
If you know anyone looking who would make a good palm parent send em my way. It’s in a 15 gal but it ideally should go in the ground soon, it’s filled in that pot already. Alas, the time has come. Already have an account?
Wanting to put them out but not if they’re not a true hybrid. Hybrids seem to have a higher rate of growth for some reason. The seed looks pretty elongated, so I would think it would have a lot of Vetchia characteristics.
In all the years i have observed it, fronds on the variegated spec. I’d suggest spending sometime at Kopsick Palmatium in St. Pete. So why does foxy gold casino it seem the green is the better choice ? Time will tell with my original plant… I’m encouraged to see some growth of the spear, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
I hope/expect some new batches to hit the market sometime soon. This is a holy grail palm for many of us PTers. Going to a spot in the Los Angeles area
Beautiful palm hopefully it pulls through, good luck. Initially that doesn’t look like the LPS I’ve experienced or seen; I think I would be more worried about the dark weeping spots. The core may be rotting, potentially? The line of dark spots is most concerning.
